.PRO FAQ
Why are digital certs important to users?
With growing concerns about online security and the transmission of personal information, users are more inclined to work with professionals that provide convenient online transactions that offer a high level of security. Digital Certificates allow professionals to provide their clients with assurances of security - digital identity, verified seals, secure email, and secure transmission (https communication).
How does .PRO help with HIPAA compliance requirements?
New mandates from legislation on Internet security and compliance such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) require heightened privacy and security obligations for physicians. .Pro ProCerts provide physicians with an easy method to comply with these new regulations.
What uses are there for the digital certificate?
- Secure email - a user can digitally sign email communications so that people know the origin of the email
- Registrants can use a digital certificate to encrypt e-mail communications to prevent unauthorized people from reading them.
- Authentication to web servers. Most modern web browsers allow use of a digital certificate to authenticate users to a web server.
- Certificate-based authentication is much stronger and more secure than password based authentication.

However, as verification methods and eligibility requirements are established in international jurisdictions, .Pro will then become available in other markets. In the interim, the ProReserve registration is available to protect trademarks for future availability.

It is exclusively available to professionals who certify that they meet the specific requirements of their profession and provide eligibility information.
